Hazelnut Waffles with Berries & Creme Fraiche

List of Ingredients
- 1-1/2 cups toasted hazelnuts
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 3 large eggs
- 1/3 cup salad oil
- 1 cup creme fraiche or sour cream
- 5 to 6 cups mixed berries (raspberry, blueberry, Tay, Logan, or Marion)

- Berry syrup
Instructions
- Whirl nuts in a food processor (or part at a time in a blender), until very finely ground (if overprocessed, nuts will turn to butter). If using blender, transfer nuts to a large bowl.
- To nuts add flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt; whirl or stir to blend. Add buttermilk, eggs and oil; whirl or whisk just until evenly moistened.
- Bake batter in an oiled regular or Belgian waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions until well browned. Serve as cooked, or keep warm directly on rack of a 200-degree oven while making remaining waffles.
- Place waffles on plates and spoon creme fraiche and berries on top. Offer with berry syrup.
