Homemade Sage Sausage Patties

List of Ingredients
â—¦ 1 pound ground pork
â—¦ ¾ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
â—¦ ¼ cup buttermilk
â—¦ 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
â—¦ 2 teaspoons rubbed sage
â—¦ ¾ teaspoon salt
â—¦ ¾ teaspoon pepper
â—¦ â…› teaspoon garlic powder
â—¦ â…› teaspoon dried oregano
Recipe
In a bowl, combine all the ingredients, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Shape into eight ½-inch-thick patties. Refrigerate one hour.
In a large cast iron or other heavy skillet, cook patties over medium heat until a thermometer reads 160° F, 6 to 8 minutes on each side.
Makes 8 servings
• Wrap cooked and cooled patties in foil and store them all in a freezer storage bag. This makes it a snap to grab one or two to heat up on busy mornings.
