    Orange French Toast

    List of Ingredients


    • 4 eggs, lightly beaten
    • 2 Tbsp Grand Marnier
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 2 Tbsp grated orange peel
    • 1/2 tsp vanilla
    • 1/8 tsp cinnamon
    • Pinch of nutmeg
    • 8 (1-inch-thick) slices of French bread
    • .

    • Unsalted butter
    • Maple syrup
    • Powdered sugar
    • .
    • Accompaniment: 4 cooked sausage links


    Instructions


    1. In a shallow bowl, beat together eggs, Grand Marnier, milk, orange peel, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.

    2. Dip bread slices into egg mixture, coating both sides. Soak for 30 seconds on each side.

    3. In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon butter and cook the bread on both sides over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes on each side, or until golden.

      Serve with butter, syrup, powdered sugar and sausage.

      Makes 4 servings.
