    Pend Orielle Caramel French Toast

    List of Ingredients


    • 2 Tbsp light corn syrup
    • 1 cup brown sugar
    • 1/4 cup butter
    • 14 slices cinnamon toast
    • 6 eggs
    • 2 cups milk
    • 2 cups light cream
    • 1/3 cup sugar
    • 2 tsp vanilla
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • .
    • Sour cream
    • 3/4 cup finely chopped pecans


    Instructions


    1. In a saucepan, combine the corn syrup, brown sugar and butter. Melt until smooth and bubbly. Spread in the bottom of a greased 11- x 7-inch glass baking pan. Overlap bread slices like dominoes in pan over syrup.

    2. In a bowl, mix eggs, milk, light cream, sugar, vanilla and salt. Pour over bread. Cover with foil and bake at 350° for 45 minutes, then remove foil. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes more, or until puffed and golden brown.

    3. Slice and invert pieces to serve. Garnish with sour cream. Top with small bits of chopped pecans.

      Makes 8 servings.
