    Syrup: Buttered Rum-Praline Syrup

    Source of Recipe

From "The Complete Southern Cookbook" by Tammy Algood

    Recipe Introduction

"Oh, the many ways you'll find to use this sauce! I like it over waffles. It's so delicious that you'll find it won't last very long, even though it will store up to two weeks in the refrigerator."

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 cup packed brown sugar
    • ½ cup chopped pecans
    • ½ cup light corn syrup
    • ¼ cup water
    • Dash of salt
    • 1 Tbsp unsalted butter
    • 1 tsp rum extract

    Recipe

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the brown sugar, pecans, corn syrup, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves.

As soon as the mixture boils, remove from the heat. Stir in the butter and extract.

Cool slightly and serve warm or cool completely and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.

    Makes 1½ cups
