Recipe Introduction
"There is only one thing that my entire family insists I bring for any get-together, and it's these RKTs. (In fact, I've even had to bring an extra batch for my sister, who may or may not have needed to hide some in her house just for herself...sorry, Mandy!) It takes only a minute to brown the butter, which is one of those things that sounds fancy and difficult, but rest assured, it's as easy as melting butter. You just need to watch so that it doesn't burn. But follow this recipe and that won't happen!"
List of Ingredients
◦ 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
◦ 2 (10-ounce) packages large marshmallows
◦ 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
◦ 1/4 teaspoon table salt
◦ 9 cups (9 ounces) crisped rice cereal
◦ 3/4 teaspoon flake sea salt
Recipe
Spray rubber spatula and 13 by 9-inch baking pan with vegetable oil spray. Melt butter in Dutch oven over medium heat. Continue cooking, stirring constantly with wooden spoon, until butter is dark golden brown and has nutty aroma, 1 to 3 minutes.
Add marshmallows, vanilla, and table salt and cook, stirring often with prepared spatula, until marshmallows are just melted, about 3 minutes (some marshmallows may not be fully melted; this is okay). Off heat, stir in cereal until fully combined.
Transfer cereal mixture to prepared pan. Using your damp hands, press mixture into even layer. Sprinkle with sea salt and let set for 1 hour. Run knife around edge of pan to loosen treats, then turn out onto cutting board. Flip treats right side up and cut into 12 equal-size bars. (Bars can be stored in airtight container for up to 3 days.) Serve.
