Mocha Walnut Brownies

- 4 squares (1 ounce each) unsweetened chocolate
- 1 cup butter (no substitutes)
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup chopped walnuts

- 4 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1/2 cup butter (no substitutes), melted
- 1/3 cup baking cocoa
- 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate and butter; stir until smooth. Remove from heat. Add sugar and mix well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Stir in vanilla.
- Combine flour, baking powder and salt; add to chocolate mixture just until combined. Stir in walnuts. Pour into a greased 13- x 9- x 2-inch baking pan.
- Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Combine frosting ingredients in a bowl; mix well. Spread over brownies.
Makes about 2 dozen.
