Bacon Cheeseburgers

- 2 pounds ground chuck
- ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- Hamburger buns
- Toppings: Grilled bacon slices, Comté cheese, grilled red onion slices, Romaine lettuce, and ripe tomato slices
Instructions
- Preheat grill to 350° to 400° F (medium-high) heat. Sprinkle ground chuck with salt and pepper, and shape into six 8-ounce patties.
- Grill, covered with grill lid, 4 to 5 minutes on each side (for well done) or to desired temperature. Add cheese, if desired, during the last 90 seconds to melt.
- Serve immediately on hamburger buns. Allow guests to dress their own burger by placing condiments and toppings on the side.
