    Louisiana Hush Puppies with Comeback Dipping Sauce

    List of Ingredients

    Comeback Dipping Sauce:
    â—¦ 1 cup mayonnaise
    â—¦ â…“ cup ketchup
    â—¦ ½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    â—¦ 1 teaspoon hot sauce
    â—¦ ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    â—¦ ½ teaspoon black pepper
    â—¦ ½ teaspoon paprika

    Louisiana Hush Puppies:
    â—¦ 2 cups yellow cornmeal
    â—¦ 1 tablespoon baking powder
    â—¦ 1 teaspoon salt
    â—¦ ½ teaspoon sugar
    â—¦ 2 beaten eggs, room temperature
    â—¦ 1 cup finely chopped onion
    â—¦ 1 ¼ cups buttermilk
    â—¦ Peanut oil, for frying

    Recipe

    Comeback Dipping Sauce:
    Stir together mayonnaise, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and paprika.
    Set aside.

    Louisiana Hush Puppies:
    Combine cornmeal, baking powder, salt, and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Stir in eggs and onion. Add in 1 cup of buttermilk and combine. Mixture should be thick enough to drop by the spoonful. Add additional ¼ cup buttermilk if needed.

    Heat 2 inches of peanut oil in a cast-iron frying pan or Dutch oven to 350° F. Drop batter by the spoonful and fry for 2 to 3 minutes on each side. Drain on paper towels. Serve with Comeback Dipping Sauce.

    Makes 36 hush puppies
