    Coffee Cake: Apple Cream Coffee Cake

    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
    • 2 tsp cinnamon
    • 1-1/2 cups sugar, divided
    • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 2 cups flour
    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1 cup sour cream
    • 1 apple, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a springform pan well.

    2. Combine walnuts, cinnamon, and 1/2 cup sugar.

    3. In a large bowl, cream butter. Gradually add remaining sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with sour cream. Beat well.

    4. Spread half of the batter in prepared pan. Top with apple slices. Sprinkle with half of walnut mixture. Top with remaining batter. Sprinkle on remaining walnut mixture.

    5. Bake for 35 minutes or until done. Let stand for 30 minutes. Remove side of pan and cut into slices. Serve with whipped topping, if desired.

      Serves 6 to 8
