    Cherry Cake

    List of Ingredients


    • 2 cups pitted, halved sweet cherries
    • 1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 2 cups flour, divided
    • 2 tsp baking powder
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 1/2 cup walnuts
    • 1 Tbsp powdered sugar


    Instructions


    1. Prepare the cherries and place in a colander to drain. Cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy; add the eggs and vanilla and blend.

    2. Sift 1-1/2 cups flour, the baking powder and salt together; add to the butter mixture alternately with the milk, mixing well after each addition. Combine the cherries and nuts with the remaining 1/2 cup flour; fold into the batter.

    3. Pour into a greased 9-inch square pan. Bake in a preheated 350º F oven for 50 to 55 minutes. Cool before sprinkling with powdered sugar and cutting into squares.

      Makes 8 servings.
