Fall Spice Cake

List of Ingredients
- 1-3/4 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1-1/2 sticks butter, room temperature
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 eggs
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup chopped pecans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375° F. Grease and lightly flour a 9- x 13-inch pan.
- Sift together the dry ingredients. Cream the butter and sugars. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk. Add the vanilla and pecans, and blend.
- Bake 35 to 40 minutes.

When cool, frost with:
CARAMEL ICING
• 1 stick unsalted butter
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 2 Tbsp evaporated milk
• 1 cup confectioners' sugar
In a saucepan, combine the butter and brown sugar. Cook over low flame for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Gradually add the milk. Bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and cool.
Add the confectioners' sugar and beat. (If it's too thick, add 1 teaspoon milk.)
