    Frosting: Decorators Icing

    List of Ingredients


    • 3/4 cup vegetable shortening
    • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 4 to 4-1/2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 2 Tbsp milk
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • Food coloring


    Instructions


    1. Beat shortening and butter in bowl of electric mixer on low speed until completely blended.

    2. Combine sugar and salt in a large bowl. Add half of the sugar mixture to the shortening mixture, beating just until incorporated.

    3. Beat in remaining sugar with the milk, vanilla and coloring. Do not overmix. If the mixture is too firm, add more milk. The frosting may be divided into batches and colored as desired.
