    Halloween Candy-Apple Cake

    List of Ingredients


    • 2 cups flour
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • 1/8 tsp salt
    • 1 tsp cinnamon
    • 1/2 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 1 (21-ounce) can apple pie filling
    • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
    • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
    • 2/3 cup chopped walnuts
    • 1/2 cup golden raisins
    • 12 ounces top-quality caramel sauce


    Instructions


    1. Coat a 10-inch tube or bundt pan with cooking spray. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, apple pie filling, oil and eggs. Mix well with a wooden spoon. Fold in the walnuts and raisins.

    2. Spoon the mixture into the prepared pan. Bake on the middle rack of a preheated 325º F oven for 70 minutes, or until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool to room temperature in the pan on a rack, then cover and store at room temperature for 24 hours to allow the flavors to blend.

    3. To serve: Remove the cake from the pan and place on a serving plate. Spoon the caramel sauce into a 4-cup glass measure and microwave on 100% power until hot, but not boiling, about 1 minute. Pour the sauce over the cake or over individual slices.

      Makes 12 servings.
