    Macaroni Gratin

    List of Ingredients


    • ¼ cup diced bacon
    • ¼ cup diced onion
    • ¼ cup diced boiled or baked ham
    • 2 cups heavy whipping cream (about)
    • ¼ cup freshly grated Gruyère cheese
    • 6 cups cooked penne pasta
    • 6 Tbsp freshly grated Parmesan cheese (divided)
    • ¼ cup Panko bread crumbs


    Instructions


    1. In large sauté pan, cook bacon until crisp. Add onion and cook until soft. Add ham and heat through.

    2. Add cream and Gruyère cheese and bring to a boil. Gradually stir in pasta and return to a boil. Cook over medium heat 5 to 10 minutes, or until thickened and sauce coats pasta. If mixture is too dry, add additional cream.

    3. Preheat broiler.
      Mix in 4 tablespoons Parmesan cheese and turn into 1½- to 2-quart casserole. Top with bread crumbs and broil 2 to 3 minutes, or until top is golden. Serve topped with remaining 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese.

      Makes 4 servings.
