Breakfast Casserole

Recipe Introduction
"This recipe was passed down to my mom by a family friend over a decade ago and we've yet to see a Christmas morning without it since. We typically eat it alongside a pile of cheese grits and one (or two) servings of our homemade cinnamon rolls. In my opinion, it is the definition of comfort food and the best thing to whip up in a pinch."
List of Ingredients
â—¦ 4 eggs
â—¦ 2 cups whole milk
â—¦ 1 teaspoon dried mustard
â—¦ 1 teaspoon salt
â—¦ 1 pound ground pork breakfast sausage, browned and drained
â—¦ 8 slices white bread, crusts removed, cubed
â—¦ 2 cups packed freshly grated sharp Cheddar cheese
Recipe
In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs, then whisk in the milk. Whisk in the dried mustard and salt. Add the sausage, bread, and cheese, and stir to incorporate. Let it sit at room temperature for 30 to 45 minutes or refrigerate overnight.
Preheat the oven to 350° F. Butter a 9 by 13-inch casserole dish and pour the mixture into the dish. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for 15 more minutes.
Let stand for 15 minutes before serving, and enjoy it while still warm.
