Hamburger Steak with Onion Gravy

- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1½ pounds 80/20 ground chuck
- ¾ cup finely chopped onion
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ to ½ teaspoon black pepper
- â…“ cup all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Heat oil over medium-high heat in large heavy-bottomed stainless skillet.
- In a medium-size bowl, combine ground chuck, onion, egg, seasoned salt, garlic powder, and pepper. Shape into 4 to 6 equal-size patties.
- Dip each patty into flour, and cook in skillet until browned on both sides; remove, and set aside.
Gravy:
◦  1 large onion, halved and sliced
◦  1 cup beef broth
◦  ¼ cup all-purpose flour
◦  ¼ teaspoon seasoned salt
◦  ¼ teaspoon black pepper
◦  ½ tablespoon Worcestershire
◦  1 teaspoon Kitchen Bouquet (optional)
Add sliced onion to pan drippings in skillet, and cook over medium heat until lightly caramelized, stirring regularly.
Combine broth with 1 cup water; whisk in flour, seasoned salt, and pepper. Pour into skillet with onion, and stir constantly until mixture begins to thicken. Add Worcestershire and Kitchen Bouquet.
Return patties to skillet, turning to coat, and reduce heat to low. Simmer, covered, 20 minutes. Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans, or a mixed garden salad on the side.
