    Bee Sting Honey

    Source of Recipe

From "Back in the Day Bakery: Made with Love" by Cheryl Day

    Recipe Introduction

"Spiced honey is one of my favorite condiments. I serve it with cream cheese and crackers, baked brie, and baguettes; I pour it on chicken wings to give them a kick. Follow the amounts exactly to make a pleasantly spicy honey, or increase the cayenne to make it as hot as you like. Be sure to use your favorite local honey too. We get ours from our friend Brandon's folks' farm in Tylertown, Mississippi."

    List of Ingredients

    â—¦ 1 cup honey
    â—¦ ¼ cup cider vinegar
    â—¦ ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
â—¦ ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
â—¦ ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt

    Recipe

In a medium nonreactive saucepan, combine the honey, vinegar, cayenne, red pepper flakes, and salt and bring to a boil over medium heat.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat and let cool to room temperature.

The honey can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month.

    Makes about 1 ½ cups
