    Comeback Sauce

    Source of Recipe

From "Big Food Big Love" by Heather Earnhardt

    Recipe Introduction

"Comeback Sauce originated in Mississippi, and it's called 'comeback' because it's so good you'll be coming back for more. You'll find it used as a condiment all over the South. I love my version of it on everything from fried green tomatoes, fried oysters, and burgers to fish and shrimp, steamed or fried. Some folks even use it as a salad dressing. It makes a great sandwich spread and dip for crudités. Make a batch of it and keep it in your fridge for use on anything."

    List of Ingredients

â—¦ 1 cup mayonnaise, such as Duke's or Best Foods
â—¦ ½ cup chili sauce, such as Heinz
â—¦ Juice from 1 large lemon
    â—¦ 2 tablespoons canola oil
â—¦ 2 teaspoons Texas Pete or Crystal hot sauce
    â—¦ 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
â—¦ ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
â—¦ ¼ teaspoon dry mustard powder
    â—¦ ¼ teaspoon onion powder
    â—¦ ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
    â—¦ Pinch of kosher salt

    Recipe

In a blender or food processor, blend all the ingredients until incorporated and smooth.

Taste and check for seasoning, adding a bit more salt and hot sauce if desired. Store the sauce in a lidded glass jar in the refrigerator; it will keep for up to 10 days.

    Makes almost 2 cups
