    Almond Crescents

    Recipe Introduction

    "Try making these half the size the recipe directs. They will be very delicate moon-shaped crescents. A melt-in-the-mouth cookie."

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
    • â…” cup sifted confectioners' sugar
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • ½ tsp almond extract
    • 1 cup coarse-chopped almonds
    • 2â…“ cups all-purpose flour
    • Confectioners' sugar for rolling

    Recipe

    Cream butter thoroughly, then add sugar and flavorings. Blend until creamy and smooth. Add the almonds, then the flour. Knead lightly to blend thoroughly.

    Divide the dough in two equal portions and form into two long rolls about 1 inch in diameter. Cut off ¾-inch pieces. Roll each piece into a 2-inch length between the palms of your hands. Place on ungreased baking sheets, pressing into crescent shapes.

    Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 15 to 20 minutes, or until tan in color. Cool slightly, then roll in confectioners' sugar.

    Makes about 3 dozen.
