Cape Cod Chocolate Chip Cookies

List of Ingredients
- 1 cup butter or regular margarine
- ¾ cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- ¾ cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2¼ cups sifted flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 (6-ounce) package semisweet chocolate pieces
- ½ cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Cream butter until fluffy; gradually add sugars and beat until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
- Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture and blend. Stir in chocolate pieces and nuts. Chill dough several hours or overnight.
- Roll dough by teaspoonfuls between palms of hands and place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet. Flatten balls with fingertips to make flat rounds. Bake in moderate (350° F) oven 10 to 12 minutes, or until light golden brown. Cool a few minutes on baking sheets before removing to racks to cool.
Makes about 6½ dozen.
