    Cape Cod Chocolate Chip Cookies

    From "Farm Journal Homemade Cookies"

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 cup butter or regular margarine
    • ¾ cup brown sugar, firmly packed
    • ¾ cup sugar
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 2¼ cups sifted flour
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 (6-ounce) package semisweet chocolate pieces
    • ½ cup chopped walnuts


    Instructions


    1. Cream butter until fluffy; gradually add sugars and beat until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla, mixing well.

    2. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture and blend. Stir in chocolate pieces and nuts. Chill dough several hours or overnight.

    3. Roll dough by teaspoonfuls between palms of hands and place 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet. Flatten balls with fingertips to make flat rounds. Bake in moderate (350° F) oven 10 to 12 minutes, or until light golden brown. Cool a few minutes on baking sheets before removing to racks to cool.

      Makes about 6½ dozen.
