    Frosted Butter Cookies

    List of Ingredients


    • 2 cups (1 pound) butter, softened
    • 1-3/4 cups sugar
    • 1 egg yolk
    • 4 cups flour
    • Prepared vanilla frosting (canned)
    • Food coloring and decorating sprinkles (optional)


    Instructions


    1. In large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg yolk. Gradually blend in flour. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten with a glass dipped in flour.

    2. Bake at 375° F for 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.

    3. If desired, tint frosting with food coloring. Frost cookies. Decorate as desired for any occasion.
