Frosted Butter Cookies

- 2 cups (1 pound) butter, softened
- 1-3/4 cups sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 4 cups flour
- Prepared vanilla frosting (canned)
- Food coloring and decorating sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- In large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg yolk. Gradually blend in flour. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Flatten with a glass dipped in flour.
- Bake at 375° F for 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove to wire racks to cool.
- If desired, tint frosting with food coloring. Frost cookies. Decorate as desired for any occasion.
