Malted Milk Cookies

- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 cup butter or margarine, softened
- 1/3 cup sour cream
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 4-3/4 cups flour
- 3/4 cup malted milk powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt

- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 5 Tbsp milk
- 3-1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/3 cup malted milk powder
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- To prepare the cookies: With an electric mixer, combine the brown sugar, softened butter, sour cream, eggs and vanilla until creamy. Slowly add the flour, malted milk powder, baking powder, soda and salt, blending well.
- Roll one-third of the dough at a time 1/4-inch-thick between sheets of lightly floured wax paper. Cut into about 2-1/2-inch rounds. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake in a preheated 375º F oven 10 minutes. Remove from baking sheets to cool on racks.
- To prepare the frosting: In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter and milk on low heat until the butter has melted and the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat and stir in the powdered sugar, malted milk powder and vanilla. Spread on the cooled cookies while the frosting is still warm.
Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
