    French Onion Short Ribs

    List of Ingredients


    • 3 to 4 lbs. beef short ribs
    • 3 Tbsp olive oil
    • 1 pkg. French onion soup mix
    • 2 to 3 yellow onions, coarsely chopped
    • 1 cup water
    • 1/2 cup red wine (optional)
    • 4 to 5 small red new potatoes, pared


    Instructions


    1. Brown short ribs with olive oil in Dutch oven or brown under oven broiler.

    2. Place browned ribs in crockpot or slow-cooker and sprinkle with onion soup mix. Place onions over ribs and pour water and wine (if desired) around ribs. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 7 hours.

    3. Place potatoes around ribs during last hour of cooking time and continue cooking until potatoes are tender. Skim off fat and serve ribs along with the potatoes and a loaf of French bread to dip in sauce.

      Serves 4 to 6
