    Sesame Chicken

    Source of Recipe

From "Holiday Slow Cooker" by Leigh Anne Wilkes

    Recipe Introduction

"This recipe has been a favorite at our house for a long time. It uses chicken thighs, which I am a big fan of, but if you prefer chicken breasts, feel free to substitute. When topped with chopped green onions and sesame seeds, it makes for a pretty presentation, too! Serve it over rice."

    List of Ingredients

â—¦ 8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or 2 chicken breasts, about 2 pounds total
â—¦ Salt and pepper to taste
    â—¦ ½ cup chopped onion
â—¦ 3 teaspoons fresh minced garlic
â—¦ 1 cup honey or ¾ cup brown sugar
    â—¦ ¼ cup ketchup
    â—¦ ½ cup soy sauce
    â—¦ 2 tablespoons olive oil
    â—¦ 1 teaspoon sesame oil
    â—¦ 1 teaspoon chili paste
    â—¦ 4 teaspoons cornstarch
    â—¦ â…“ cup water
    â—¦ 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
    â—¦ 3 green onions, chopped

    Recipe

Place the chicken in a 6-quart slow cooker. Season the chicken with salt and pepper.

In a bowl, combine the onion, garlic, honey, ketchup, soy sauce, olive oil, sesame oil and chili paste, and pour it over the chicken.

Cook on low for 3 to 4 hours or on high for 2 hours.
Remove the chicken and shred it.

In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch and water. Pour the sauce from the slow cooker into a saucepan and add the cornstarch mixture. Stir to combine over medium heat. Cook for about 10 minutes or until it has thickened, stirring often. Pour it over the chicken.

Serve over rice and sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions.

    Serves 4 to 6
