    Banana Clafouti

    List of Ingredients


    • 5 Tbsp sugar
    • 3 large firm, but ripe, bananas
    • 2 cups half-and-half
    • 3 eggs, beaten
    • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
    • 1 Tbsp finely grated orange rind
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1/4 tsp salt
    • Confectioners' sugar


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 375° F.

    2. Butter an 8- x 8-inch or 7- x 10-inch shallow baking dish. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of the sugar in the bottom. Cut each banana into 3 long strips and line the bottom of the dish with them. In a bowl, beat together all the remaining ingredients, except the confectioners' sugar, and pour carefully over the bananas.

    3. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes, or until puffed and golden. Let cool on a rack for 15 minutes. Sift confectioners' sugar over the top for garnish.
