    Kahlua Mousse

    • -- For the Mousse --
    • 1 lb. dark sweet chocolate, cut in pieces
    • 3 oz. butter, cut in pieces
    • 1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
    • 3 eggs, separated
    • 1/4 cup Kahlua
    • 1 tsp instant coffee powder
    • 2 cups whipping cream
    • Whipped cream, optional
    • *
    • -- For the Kahlua Cream Topping --
    • 1 cup whipping cream
    • 2 Tbsp Kahlua


    Instructions


    1. In top of double boiler, melt chocolate and butter over simmering water.

    2. In large bowl, combine sugar, egg yolks, Kahlua, and coffee powder. Blend in chocolate mixture. Whip cream until stiff peaks form; fold into the Kahlua-chocolate mixture. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form; fold into mixture.

    3. Spoon mousse into serving bowl or dessert glasses. Refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.

    4. To make the Kahlua Cream Topping: Whip 1 cup whipping cream with 2 tablespoons Kahlua until stiff peaks form; spoon topping onto mousse and garnish, if desired.

      Serves 6 to 10
