    Sauce: Brandied Cherry Sauce

    From "The Good Housekeeping Illustrated Cookbook"


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 pound sweet cherries, pitted
    • 1/2 cup brandy
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 2 tsp cornstarch
    • 1/4 tsp almond extract


    Instructions


    1. In a 2-quart saucepan, combine cherries, brandy, sugar and cornstarch. Over medium heat, cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils.

    2. Remove from heat. Stir in almond extract. Serve warm or cover and refrigerate.



    Final Comments


    Serve over vanilla ice cream, crepes, bread pudding, or pound or sponge cake.
