â—¦ 3 large egg yolks, lightly beaten
    â—¦ ½ cup sugar
    â—¦ â…› teaspoon salt
â—¦ 2 cups heavy whipping cream
    â—¦ 1 cup whole buttermilk
    â—¦ 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
â—¦ 1½ cups halved fresh strawberries
    â—¦ â…“ cup strawberry preserves

In a large bowl, whisk together egg yolks, sugar, and salt. Set aside.

Return mixture to saucepan; cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat until mixture begins to thicken and coats the back of a wooden spoon. Process in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer’s instructions. Spoon into a chilled freezer-safe container.

In the container of a blender, combine strawberries and preserves; pulse until strawberries are coarsely chopped, approximately 4 times. Fold into ice cream mixture. Cover and freeze until firm.
