    Too-Easy Cherry Cobbler *

    List of Ingredients


    • 2 (21-ounce) cans cherry pie filling
    • 1 (15-ounce) can pitted dark sweet cherries in heavy syrup, drained
    • ¼ cup all-purpose flour, divided
    • ½ tsp almond extract
    • 5 white bread slices
    • 1¼ cups sugar
    • ½ cup butter or margarine, melted
    • 1 large egg
    • 1½ tsp grated lemon rind


    Instructions


    1. Stir together pie filling, cherries, and 2 tablespoons flour. Stir in almond extract. Place in a lightly greased 8-inch square baking dish.

    2. Trim crusts from bread slices; cut each slice into 5 strips. Arrange bread strips over fruit mixture. Stir together remaining 2 tablespoons flour, sugar, and next 3 ingredients; drizzle over bread strips.

    3. Bake at 350° F for 35 to 45 minutes, or until golden and bubbly.

      Makes 4 to 6 servings.
