    Crab Cakes: Crabettes

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 large egg
    • 3 Tbsp mayonnaise
    • 1 tsp hot sauce
    • 1 tsp soy sauce
    • 1/2 tsp Old Bay seasoning
    • 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
    • 1 tsp finely chopped fresh ginger
    • 1 tsp chopped garlic
    • 2 to 3 serrano chile peppers, finely chopped
    • 2 Tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
    • 1 lb. fresh claw crabmeat
    • 1/2 cup fine, dry breadcrumbs
    • Vegetable oil for frying


    Instructions


    1. Whisk together first 10 ingredients.

    2. Drain and flake crabmeat, removing any bits of shell. Place in a large bowl. Pour egg mixture over crabmeat; toss gently. Add breadcrumbs; stir gently. Shape into 1-1/2 inch patties.

    3. Pour oil to depth of 1-1/2 inches in a large skillet; heat to 375 degrees (F).

    4. Add crab cakes to hot oil; fry about 2 minutes per side or until golden.

      Remove with a slotted spoon. Drain on paper towels.

      Makes 5 servings.
