    Shrimp: Spicy Beer-Boiled Shrimp

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 bottle (12 ounces) beer (not dark or amber)
    • 1 Tbsp hot red pepper flakes
    • 1 Tbsp whole black peppercorns
    • 2 bay leaves
    • 2 pounds raw shrimp, shells on but legs removed
    • ½ cup butter
    • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
    • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
    • .
    • Bottled cocktail sauce
    • Lemon wedges


    Instructions


    1. Combine the beer, pepper flakes, peppercorns and bay leaves in a large heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil, then boil for 2 minutes.

    2. Add the shrimp. Cover and cook until the shrimp are cooked through, about 5 minutes. Drain.

    3. Melt the butter. Stir in the lemon juice and cayenne pepper. Serve the shrimp with the butter mixture, cocktail sauce, and lemon wedges.

      Serves 6
