    Shrimp: Shrimp a la Creole

    List of Ingredients


    • 3 lbs. shrimp
    • 1 Tbsp shortening
    • 1 medium onion, chopped
    • 2 pieces celery, chopped
    • 1 pod garlic, minced
    • 1 small green bell pepper, chopped
    • 1/2 can tomatoes
    • 1/2 can tomato paste
    • 3 sprigs thyme
    • 1 bay leaf
    • 1 Tbsp chopped parsley
    • 1/2 Tbsp sugar
    • Salt and pepper to taste

    • Boiled rice


    Instructions


    1. Boil shrimp approximately 10 minutes; peel and clean.

    2. Melt shortening in a skillet and add onion, celery, garlic and bell pepper. Simmer 5 minutes and add tomatoes, tomato paste, thyme, bay leaf, parsley, sugar and salt and pepper. Mix well and add shrimp.

    3. Simmer for 30 minutes and serve in a circle of boiled rice.

      Serves 6
