    Source of Recipe

From "The Grilling Book" by Adam Rapaport

    List of Ingredients

    • Sauerkraut:
    • 3 cups store-bought refrigerated sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
    • ½ cup lager or Pilsner beer
    • 1 Tbsp dark brown sugar
    • Freshly ground black pepper

    • Hot Dogs:
    • One 12-ounce bottle lager or Pilsner beer
    • 2 Tbsp sugar
    • 6 all-beef hot dogs

    Instructions

    1. Sauerkraut:
Simmer sauerkraut, beer, and sugar in a large heavy skillet over medium-high heat for 5 minutes. Season to taste with pepper.

    2. Hot Dogs:
Build a medium-hot fire in a charcoal grill, or heat a gas grill to high. Bring beer and sugar to a simmer in a medium skillet over medium-low heat. Add hot dogs; simmer until dogs are plump and lightly coated with beer syrup, about 8 minutes.
