Recipe Introduction
"If making traditional sugarplums isn't on your Christmas to-do list right next to singing carols and decorating a real tree, it should be. Filled with healthy fruit to balance out the sugar, these little treats are perfect for the little sugarplum fairies in your life."
List of Ingredients
◦  6 ounces slivered almonds, toasted
◦  4 ounces dried plums
◦  4 ounces dried apricots
◦  4 ounces dried figs
◦  ¼ cup powdered sugar
◦  ¼ tsp anise seeds, toasted
◦  ¼ tsp fennel seeds, toasted
◦  ¼ tsp caraway seeds, toasted
◦  ¼ tsp ground cardamom
◦  1 pinch kosher salt
◦  ¼ cup honey
◦  1 cup coarse sugar
Recipe
Add the almonds, plums, apricots, and figs to a food processor and pulse until everything is well chopped but not combined.
In a medium bowl, combine the powdered sugar, anise, fennel, caraway, cardamom, and salt. Add the fruit mixture and the honey to the mixture, and use your hands to mix everything together.
Roll the mixture into roughly 80 ¼-ounce balls. Just before serving, roll each ball in coarse sugar.
Makes 80 sugarplums
Note:
Sugarplums get better as they dry out, so don't be afraid to let them sit out for up to a week. After that, store them in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
