Christmas: Mulled Cider

List of Ingredients
- 8 cups apple cider or apple juice
- 2 to 4 Tbsp packed brown sugar
- 2 cardamom pods, cracked (about 1/2 tsp seed)
- 1 tsp whole allspice
- Cinnamon sticks (optional)
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine apple cider or juice and brown sugar.
- For the spice bag, cut a double thickness of 100% cotton cheesecloth into a 6- or 8-inch square. Place cardamom seeds and whole allspice in the center. Bring up corners; tie with a clean string. Add to cider mixture.
- Bring mixture to boiling; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for at least 10 minutes. Discard spice bag. To serve, pour Mulled Cider into a large heatproof punch bowl or mugs. If desired, garnish each serving with a cinnamon stick.
Makes 8 (8-ounce) servings.
