Halloween: Bloody Sinful Screwdrivers

List of Ingredients



• -- Blood --
  
• 1/2 cup corn syrup
  
• 1 Tbsp grenadine
  
• 5 to 10 drops red food coloring

• -- Screwdriver --
  
• 3 ounces chilled orange juice
  
• 3 ounces chilled distilled black vodka
  
• 1/2 black licorice stick
  






Instructions



1. For blood:
   Mix corn syrup and grenadine in shallow, wide-mouthed bowl. Add red food coloring to achieve desired hue. Take stemmed glass (martini, daiquiri, or wine goblet) and carefully dip rim of glass into mixture, until rim is well coated. Set glass upright to "drip-dry" on wax paper. Wait 5 to 10 minutes for syrup to set.
   
   
2. For the drink:
   Pour orange juice into "bloody" glass. Pour black vodka on top of the orange juice by slowly pouring the vodka over the back of a teaspoon as close to the orange juice as possible to prevent mixing or "breaking into" the orange juice. The black vodka should float, separated, on top of the orange juice. Carefully slip half a black licorice stick into screwdriver as a mixing stick. Serve chilled.
   
   Serves 1
   
   






Final Comments


"Blood" potion should coat about 24 glasses.
