Halloween: Halloween Three-Decker Brownies

- 2 squares unsweetened chocolate
- ½ cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 eggs, beaten
- ½ tsp vanilla
- ½ cup sifted flour
- ½ cup chopped pecans

- -- Second Layer --
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 2 Tbsp soft butter
- 2 tsp milk
- ½ tsp vanilla
- 3 or 4 drops orange food color (or use mixture of yellow and red to make orange)

- -- Third Layer --
- ¼ square unsweetened chocolate
- 1½ tsp butter
Instructions
- To make first layer:
Combine chocolate and butter; melt over hot water.
Beat in sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in flour and nuts. Bake in greased 8-inch square pan in 325° oven 30 to 35 minutes. Cool in pan on rack.
- To make second layer:
Combine confectioners' sugar, butter, milk and vanilla to make a smooth mixture. Tint orange with food color. Spread over brownies in pan. Chill 10 minutes.
- To make third layer:
Combine chocolate and butter; melt over hot water. Drizzle from small spoon over top of brownies. Cool in pan on rack, and cut into 2-inch squares.
