    Halloween: Wormy Caramel Apples

    Source of Recipe

    Internet

    List of Ingredients

    • 5 to 6 wooden skewers, chopsticks, or ice cream sticks
    • 5 to 6 medium-size, good-quality Red Delicious or Granny Smith apples
    • 2 Tbsp water
    • 1 (14-ounce) package vanilla caramels
    • Gummy worms

    Instructions

    1. Insert skewer or stick in blossom end of each apple.
In a saucepan, heat water and caramels over low heat, stirring occasionally, until caramels are melted and mixture is smooth. Keep mixture over very low heat.

    2. Dip each apple into caramel mixture, spooning it over apple until completely coated. Place apples on waxed paper on a plate or hang from a string with spring clips attached to the sticks if you don't want caramel to be flat on top of apples.

    3. Let caramel set a few minutes, and then decorate with worms. Let coating set first, then refrigerate until coating is firm. Store in a cool place, such as the refrigerator.

      Makes 5 to 6 apples.
