Halloween: Wormy Caramel Apples
Source of Recipe
Internet
List of Ingredients
- 5 to 6 wooden skewers, chopsticks, or ice cream sticks
- 5 to 6 medium-size, good-quality Red Delicious or Granny Smith apples
- 2 Tbsp water
- 1 (14-ounce) package vanilla caramels
- Gummy worms
Instructions
- Insert skewer or stick in blossom end of each apple.
In a saucepan, heat water and caramels over low heat, stirring occasionally, until caramels are melted and mixture is smooth. Keep mixture over very low heat.
- Dip each apple into caramel mixture, spooning it over apple until completely coated. Place apples on waxed paper on a plate or hang from a string with spring clips attached to the sticks if you don't want caramel to be flat on top of apples.
- Let caramel set a few minutes, and then decorate with worms. Let coating set first, then refrigerate until coating is firm. Store in a cool place, such as the refrigerator.
Makes 5 to 6 apples.
