    Holiday Glazed Ham

    Source of Recipe

    Penzey's Spices Catalog of Seasoning

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 smoked bone-in ham
    • 15 to 30 whole cloves (choose nice, large whole ones)
    • 2 bay leaves
    • 2/3 cup brown sugar
    • 1 Tbsp crushed brown mustard seed
    • 2 tsp regular mustard powder
    • 1 tsp ground black pepper
    • Good pinch of ground cloves
    • 1/4 cup water

    Instructions

    1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees (F).

    2. Wash the ham and score the skin, if you plan to leave it on. Stud with as many cloves as desired. Place on a rack in a roasting pan. Place in oven and roast 12 to 14 minutes per pound (to an internal temperature of 120 degrees). This will take 2 to 3 hours for a larger ham.

    3. Remove ham from oven; raise temperature to 425 degrees (F). Whisk together glaze ingredients, then brush over ham to coat. Return to oven and bake 10 to 15 minutes, until the glaze has formed a shiny coating.

Remove from oven and let stand 10 to 15 minutes. (A ham can wait quite a bit, if it has to.) Carve into thin slices and serve.
