    Thanksgiving: Classic White Dressing

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 stick unsalted butter
    • 2 cups diced onion
    • 2 cups diced celery
    • 7 cups cubed stale white bread
    • 2½ cups chicken broth
    • ½ cup whole milk
    • 3 Tbsp minced fresh sage
    • 3 Tbsp minced fresh parsley
    • 1 Tbsp minced fresh thyme
    • 1 tsp kosher salt
    • 1 tsp ground black pepper
    • 2 eggs
    • ½ cup chicken broth


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 375° F; coat a 9- x 13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.

    2. Sauté onion and celery in butter in a large sauté pan over medium heat until soft, about 5 minutes. Add bread, toss to combine, then stir in broth, milk, herbs, and seasonings. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer until liquids are absorbed. Remove pan from heat.

    3. Whisk eggs and broth together, then gradually add to bread mixture. Transfer to prepared dish and bake until set, about 45 minutes.

      Makes 9 cups.
