Recipe Introduction
"Here, creamy hazelnut-chocolate spread replaces jam in this revamped, dessert-worthy version of the classic PB & J. Griddling the sandwich transforms four simple ingredients into an irresistible dish, perfect for quartering and serving as snacks with milk, or enjoying as a decadent midday treat."
List of Ingredients
â—¦ 8 slices good-quality white bread
â—¦ About ½ cup creamy or crunchy peanut butter
â—¦ About ½ cup chocolate-hazelnut spread, such as Nutella
â—¦ 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
Recipe
Place the bread slices on a work surface.
Spread four of the slices with the peanut butter. Spread the other four slices with the chocolate-hazelnut spread, and place each slice, chocolate side down, on a peanut butter slice.
Heat a griddle or two frying pans over medium heat until hot.
Spread the outside of each sandwich with 1 tablespoon of the butter.
Place on the griddle, reduce the heat to medium-low, and cook until the undersides are golden brown, about 3 minutes. Flip the sandwiches and brown the other side, 3 minutes more. Cut in half and serve.

• Change It Up:
Add a thin layer of jam — raspberry or apricot are delicious — or a layer of sliced banana. Spread the jam or the banana slices on the peanut butter before topping with the chocolate-hazelnut spread.
