    Basic Grilled Cheese

    List of Ingredients


    • 2 teaspoons unsalted butter, at room temperature
    • 2 slices white bread
    • 3 slices cheese (I like 2 slices American and 1 slice Muenster)


    Instructions


    1. Butter one side of each piece of bread. Place one slice in a sauté pan, butter side down, then cover it with one slice American cheese, one slice Muenster cheese, then another slice of American cheese. Finish with a second slice of bread, butter side up.

    2. Cook on medium heat until the bread is toasted and browned on one side and the cheese is starting to melt, 3 to 4 minutes.Flip the sandwich and toast the other side until browned, 3 to 4 minutes more.

    3. Transfer the sandwich to a plate, let it sit for 2 minutes so the cheese sets a bit, then cut it in half diagonally. Serve immediately.

      Makes 1 sandwich
