List of Ingredients
- 1 (3-pound) brisket of beef
- 1 oven-roasting bag
- 1 Tbsp liquid smoke
- 2-1/2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/8 tsp garlic powder
- 1/8 tsp onion powder
- 1 Tbsp flour
- 2 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1 cup bottled barbecue sauce
Instructions
- Place roast in the oven-roasting bag. Mix together the liquid smoke, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic and onion powders. Pour over the roast in the bag. Place the bag in the refrigerator overnight. Turn the bag over once during the marinating.
- Sprinkle the roast with the flour. Place the bag in a roasting pan; seal and puncture 6 small holes in the top of the bag. Bake in a preheated 275-degree oven for about 2-1/2 hours, or until tender.
- Remove the meat from the bag and slice thinly across the grain. Pour the cooking liquid from the bag into a large measuring cup and skim the fat from the top. Mix together the brown sugar and barbecue sauce. Place the meat slices back in the bag. Pour the barbecue sauce mixture over the meat, followed by the cooking liquid. Seal the bag again and return to the oven 1 hour longer. Slit the oven bag open to serve.
This may be served as an entree or as barbecued beef sandwiches served in warm French rolls, topped with the sauce.
Makes 8 servings.
