Recent studies show that catnip contains a strong natural mosquito repellent. If you are bugged by mosquitoes, spritz the Catnip-Vinegar infusion when you eat on the deck. Or, if you prefer, rub the Catnip & Rosemary-infused oil on exposed skin.

CATNIP MOSQUITO SPRITZ
• 2 cups catnip, stemmed
• 3 to 4 cups rice vinegar
1. Rinse catnip, roll lightly with a rolling pin, then place them in a clean quart jar and cover with vinegar.
2. Seal jar and store in a dim cupboard for 2 weeks. Shake jar lightly every day or so for 2 weeks. Strain into a clean jar, seal and refrigerate for up to 6 months (unused).
To use: Spritz on exposed skin and around dining area.
(Makes about 3 cups.)

CATNIP & ROSEMARY MOSQUITO CHASING OIL
• 2 cups catnip, stemmed
• 1 cup rosemary, cut into 6-inch sprigs
• 2 cups grapeseed oil or any light body care oil
1. Roll herbs lightly with a rolling pin and pack into a clean jar.
2. Cover with the oil, seal the jar, and place in a cool, dark cupboard for 2 weeks. Shake jar lightly every day or so for 2 weeks. Strain into a clean jar, seal and refrigerate for up to 8 months (unused).
To use: Rub on exposed skin.
(Makes about 2 cups.)
