Recipe Introduction
"Modern technology allows us to take fresh homemade ice cream to the beach with ease. The secret is having the type of ice-cream maker with a metal container filled with a supercoolant. You place the container in the freezer overnight and it becomes so cold that the ice-cream mixture freezes on contact. The metal container fits into a large cup with a churn. The entire apparatus can be stored in the freezer until packing time and then placed in the cooler for transporting to the beach."
List of Ingredients
â—¦ 2 cups half-and-half
â—¦ 1 cup milk
â—¦ 3 fresh peaches, peeled, chopped, and mashed
â—¦ ¾ cup sugar
â—¦ ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
â—¦ A freezer-cylinder type ice cream maker
Recipe
Place all of the ingredients in a large bowl and stir until well combined. Pour the mixture into the super-cold metal container and follow the manufacturer's directions for churning.
Store the ice cream in the freezer until packing time. Wrap the entire ice-cream maker in a tablecloth and put it into the picnic cooler. Ours sat in 90° F heat for three hours one day and the ice cream was still frozen when we ate it.
