Butter Crunch Chocolate Pie

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp plus 1 tsp cocoa
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 3 egg yolks, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup whipping cream, whipped
Instructions
- Combine 1 cup flour and brown sugar in a medium bowl; cut in 1/2 cup butter with a pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Stir in walnuts. Firmly press mixture in bottom and up sides of a 10-inch pie plate. Bake at 375° F for 10 minutes, or until golden. Cool completely on a wire rack.
- Combine milk and next 4 ingredients in a heavy saucepan; stir well. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, 25 minutes or until mixture is thickened and bubbly.
- Gradually add one-fourth of hot mixture to egg yolks. Add to remaining hot mixture, stirring constantly. Remove from heat; add 1/4 cup butter and vanilla, stirring until butter melts. Pour into prepared crust. Cool 30 minutes; cover and chill until firm. Serve with whipped cream.
Makes 1 (10-inch) pie.
