    Honey-Nut Pie

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 cup honey
    • 1-1/2 cups chopped walnuts
    • 2 tsp grated lemon peel
    • 4 Tbsp dark rum
    • 2 Tbsp dried bread crumbs
    • 1 Tbsp sugar
    • 2 (8-inch) frozen pie crusts, thawed
    • 1 egg yolk
    • 1 Tbsp milk
    • 1-1/2 cups whipped cream


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Heat the honey in a small saucepan. Add the walnuts and lemon peel. Simmer until the mixture is hot and the walnuts are well-coated with honey. Remove from the heat and stir in the rum; set aside.

    2. Spread the crumbs and sugar on the bottom of one pie crust. Spoon in the honey mixture. Top with the other pie crust. Seal the edges. Prick the top of the dough to let steam escape. Mix the egg yolk and milk in a small bowl. Brush over the top of the pie.

    3. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.

      Cool and serve with the whipped cream.
