    7-Layer Salad

    From "Our Sweet Basil Kitchen" by Cade and Carrion Cheney

    List of Ingredients


    • 1½ cups mayonnaise
    • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar
    • ½ tsp salt
    • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
    • 4 cups chopped romaine lettuce
    • 2 cups chopped tomatoes
    • 6 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
    • 2 cups frozen peas, defrosted
    • 1½ cups Cheddar cheese cubes
    • 1 English cucumber, chopped
    • ½ cup shredded Cheddar or Colby Jack cheese
    • 6 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled


    Instructions


    1. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sugar, salt, and vinegar. Set aside.

    2. In a large glass bowl or trifle dish, layer the remaining ingredients, with the exception of the shredded cheese and bacon, in the order listed.

    3. Spread reserved dressing over the top. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 1 hour and up to 3 hours.

      Top with shredded cheese and bacon crumbles and serve!


      Serves 6 to 8
