    Sweet Heat BBQ Coleslaw

    List of Ingredients


    • 1/2 head green cabbage, cored and shredded
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 2 medium carrots, peeled and grated
    • 1 medium red bell pepper, stemmed, seeded and finely chopped
    • 1 cup lowfat mayonnaise
    • 3 Tbsp sour cream (or lowfat yogurt)
    • 1/4 cup white wine vinegar
    • 3 Tbsp sugar
    • 1/2 to 3/4 tsp hot pepper sauce, such as Tabasco


    Instructions


    1. Core and shred the cabbage. Put into a colander and toss with salt. Let stand 1 hour to wilt the cabbage.

    2. Rinse under cold running water or in a large bowl of ice water if serving immediately. Drain, pressing lightly; pat dry with paper towels. Put into a bowl with the carrots and bell pepper.

    3. Stir together the mayonnaise, sour cream, vinegar, sugar and hot pepper sauce. Stir the dressing into the slaw. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

      Makes 6 servings.
